The second stop of the Atlantic Division, Cabelas IFA Redfish Tournament will be this Saturday, May 22 on Topsail Island at the Beach House Marina in  Surf City, NC. My partner, Capt. Jason Dail and myself will be once again out looking for that perfect, upper slot redfish in our quest to take first place in this event. Despite the less than ideal conditions this past weekend, I spent most of my time pre-fishing for this upcoming weekends tournament. Extremely low water from the new moon made it tough to get into some of the water that I wanted to fish, but I did still manage to find some fish. My partner has been looking as well and with a good weather forecast for the wekend, I expect a big turn out and lots of good competition.

Spanish Mackerel fishing has been on fire just off the beach. Casting maria jigs or trolling clark spoons have been producing lots of limits. The flounder have been making a good showing as well. Live bait in the lower Cape Fear River area has been producing most of the Flounder. King Mackerel fishing is good now as well. The southeast NC coastal waters are definitely coming alive, so now is the time to be on the water.
